About this event

We invite you to contribute to Greater Manchester becoming the world’s first creative health city region, supporting older adults to live healthier and happier lives.

Creative health is when we support our health and wellbeing by exploring creativity, culture or heritage. Creative health can contribute to longer, healthier and happier lives by addressing health inequalities and as a part of a person-centred approach to health and care.

In November 2022, Greater Manchester Integrated Care (NHS GM) launched the world’s first Creative Health City Region Strategy, setting out and detailing how GM plans to become the first city region in the world to realise the power of creativity, culture and heritage in addressing inequities and improving the health and wellbeing of its residents. The strategy adopts a population health approach across the life course, setting out how creative health can support childhood development, prepare children for school, help us into work, improve our working lives, protect us from illness and assist in managing our long-term conditions. And as we age, how creative, cultural and heritage activities can keep us healthy, socially connected and living well at home.

We would like to work with you to develop a three-year Creative Health delivery plan (2023-26) to accompany the strategy and we would like to invite you to contribute your knowledge by attending a workshop on Creative Health and Ageing Well on Monday 20th March from 10:30 - 13:00 at Stretford Public Hall, Stretford.

We will be joined on the day by colleagues from health, care, local government, the voluntary and community sector, cultural sector alongside researchers and community leaders.

At this workshop you will have an opportunity to understand and comment on ideas which have emerged so far , explore how your priorities can be supported by ageing well creative health practice, identify what evidence we need to generate and how this should be presented, hear about some excellent practice across GM and network with colleagues old and new.

This workshop will be followed by GM Creative Ageing Network Event, 13:45 - 16:00 at the same venue, to book on to this workshop too please click HERE. Lunch will be provided, if you would like to have lunch please confirm when booking for the morning event.

There are 5 workshops in total throughout March. These are:
